This program is designed for architecture students to become familiar with contemporary trends in Northern European design, technology and culture in Germany and Italy.  In Berlin, the focus will be an intensive two-week study of the physical and cultural transformation of Germany's new, unified capital since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the collapse of East Germany and the Soviet Union. Since the late 90's, the historic center has been transformed by over one hundred new building projects by many of the world's most famous architects.  In Italy, students will study ancient and contemporary buildings at the level of design, construction technology and performance. Special attention will be paid to sustainable buildings, technologies, strategies and communities as they evolved through time The program lasts 31 days.
